Dolly Jacobs speaks of her experience in the Circus and what it meant to be “born into it.”

Now the Founder and Associate Director of Circus Sarasota, she is the daughter of the late Lou Jacobs, Master Clown with Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey Circus, Jacobs was surrounded by performers her entire life, and was always inspired by their talent.

Lou Jacobs, her beloved father, introduced her to the wonders of the circus from an early age, and was told to always follow what makes you happy. Jacobs goes on to detail her growth as a performer within Ringling Circus and Big Apple Circus, even meeting her future husband, fellow speaker, Pedro Reis. Jacobs is most  known for her aerial roman rings act, in which she affectionately states was “love at first hang”. This full fly away summersault involved incredible physical technicality and effort, and audience members are able to watch a film of her first performance.

Jacobs also showcases a collection of her different stage outfits drawn for her before opening the floor to questions, ranging from set design to practice dedication.
